HOUSE MEMBERS STRIPPED OF FREEDOM OF SPEECH, ARE WE NEXT ?

In an unbelievable act of destruction toward the First Amendment right to Freedom of Speech, The United States House of Representatives who have taken an oath to uphold the Constitution, have stripped the right to freely speak when it comes to making reference to the President. In response to the emotional cry of ,"you lie," that South Carolina Representative Joe Wilson expressed during Barack Obama's little fact based health care speech before Congress, House members are no longer allowed to use the word ,"liar," when referring to the President.

But the Constitutional usurping House Rules Committee added several other phrases and words that are no longer allowed in reference to the President. According to the newly revised House rules of decorum under section 370 the following are no longer allowed when referencing the President:

• call the President a “liar.”
• call the President a “hypocrite.”
• describe the President’s veto of a bill as “cowardly.”
• charge that the President has been “intellectually dishonest.”
• refer to the President as “giving aid and comfort to the enemy.”
• refer to alleged “sexual misconduct on the President’s part.”

What right does the House of Representatives have to dictate even to their own members what they can and cannot say in reference to The President of The United States ? I remember that not one member of the left in the House or the Senate remotely complained when most of the now disallowed words and references were commonly used against President Bush. But now that the President is one of their leftist own, what was common place toward Bush is now unconstitutionally eliminated in reference to Barack Obama.

Another question that begs to be asked which is of greater concern than the fact that this move by the House Rules Committee is in total violation of the Constitution, is that if House members are willing to strip free speech rights from themselves, then how much more willing will they be to strip those same right or others from the people of The United States ?

How long before the day comes when anyone who opposes Barack Obama and speaks out against him will not be just demonized as they are now but legislated by the House to prevent through law speaking out against the President ? While I totally disagreed with the lefts hate filled accusations of lies and more of President Bush, I fully stand by their Constitutional right to express the sentiments no matter how wrong the accusations were.

In like manner those who oppose Obama have the same Constitutional right to vocally express their sentiments in whatever manner they feel necessary. Yet now in the House those sentiments can no longer be expressed in wording that the Rules Committee has deemed objectionable regardless of the Constitutional ramifications that their rules hold.

Free speech was included in the Constitution primarily to allow any and all dissent with government without fear of reprisal. Those rights include vocal dissent in the manner chosen by the dissenter toward ANY elected official. Now Barack Obama has become the exception to this free speech right and again I ask if this stands now how long before the rest of our Constitutional rights are usurped and trampled on as quickly and easily as the release of this disgusting display by our so called Representatives ?

Wait until a Republican President comes into office, and then see how fast these clowns reverse that rule.

Great post Ken! I couldn't agree with you more!

What I find ironic is that presidents like Bill Clinton can have affairs yet they can't criticize him.

I think there is a time and a place for everything. While he is making a speech, it wasn't the ideal time to shout out what he felt, but he should have the right to say it.
