CHARLTON HESTON 1923 - 2008

Sunday's are usually reserved for my Sunday Commentary only and that can be found beneath this post. But today a legend has passed. Charlton Heston one of the finest actors in screen history passed away last night at his California home at the age of 84.

With Hollywood classics like Ben Hur, The Ten Commandments, El Cid and many others to his film credit, Heston was truly a giant among screen legends.

Off the screen Heston was one of the strongest advocates for the Second Amendment and was President of the NRA. In 1980 he realized the folly of being a Democrat and switched to the Republican Party actively campaigning for Ronald Reagan.

Charlton Heston 1923 - 2008, Moses has entered the Promised Land.

Oh, my! I just returned from church so this is the first I have heard of it, Ken. He was one of the greats and among my favorites, all of which are old-timers. None of the new ones can even touch the great old-timers. Now he's in the company of other greats like John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart and many others, the greatest one of all being Jesus Himself, of course.

I will raise a glass of wine to Mr. Heston tonight. May God rest his soul.

Almost too big for the big screen... Heston was an extraordinarily unique and dominating presence and a fine gentleman, unlike the dimmie types as Clooney...

Wordsmith -- AMEN!

I've been reading about how the MSM has referred to him as "controversial" because of his support for our 2nd Amendment rights and his stewardship of the NRA. Some have even referred to his using his "celebrity status" as a "political" vehicle for same, and that makes me laugh: They fail to mention the likes of Babs and the rest of the Hollywood lefties who use their status to demean the Bush Administration and America in general.

G-d bless Charlton Heston and his memory. What a great actor, what a great man.

Seth,

So I guess supporting the constitution now is "controversial" according to leftists...sickening!

And I'm sick of how they always bring up hunting with regard to the 2nd amendment...it's not about hunting!

The founders put the 2nd amendment in for one reason: so when the government tells you you had better "turn in your guns or else..." you can load up your weapon, walk down to face the fascist/leftist/politician scum and send them to hell!

No one ever raped a .38!
