TRUTH ABOUT RUSH LIMBAUGH ATTACK DEMS DON'T WANT YOU TO KNOW

Have you noticed that EVERYTHING that is being said about Rush Limbaugh and the twisted and taken out of context statement he made about, "phony soldiers, " has been said on the floors of either the House or the Senate ?

When have, especially Democrat Representatives or Senators not missed an opportunity to get before the cameras at either the Washington Press Club or in an , "impromptu, " press conference outside of the Senate or House Chambers or on the front steps of the Capitol ?

Or when do Democrats EVER miss an opportunity to hit the interview circuit when pressing ANY subject especially when they think that subject can get political or voter capital ?

There is good reason why the usual media maneuverings by Democrats have not taken place in the Rush flak. It is called immunity from slander law suites. Whenever a Senator or Representative speaks from the floor of the House or Senate or in a Committee Hearing they are immune to prosecution for what they say to prevent malicious law suites by political rivals.

This in itself is the best indicator as to whether Dems are telling the truth or a bald face lie. The fact the not one Democrat Senator or Representative accusing Rush has made any statement concerning the , "phony soldier, " falsehood outside of the slander free zone of immunity in the Chambers of the Senate and House is a very telling sign that they KNOW that they are lying and that if they step out of the Capitol Hill free zone with this lie about Rush that every word they utter will land in court with slander law suites that will break the bank of each and every lying Democrat who is attacking private citizen Rush Limbaugh at the expense of the people of The United States.

Ken, you really need to listen to the audio of Rush again. It is obvious what he said. He was clearly referring to soldierS (plural).

The only one who has edited the comments is Rush. He did so on his broadcast where he tried to explain away his foolish remark about phony soldiers. The original audio and the edited audio are widely available.

I have no idea what excuses Rush is making today, and/or new audio Rush is ginning up but frankly I don't care. He said what he said and isn't man enough to apologize.

That said, I think Congress has better things to do than to vote on non-binding condemnations of Americans' free speech rights. Like I have said, this goes for folks on the right and the left.

Here are a couple of Senators who spoke out outside of Congress:

McCain

Jim Webb in a TV interview (he is in Congress but not on the floor).

Dana Perino also didn't think the comment was appropriate

First Rob, I heard the original remark in the context of the program not just in snippets that have been placed on the web. When heard in its full context his comment cannot be taken as a slam on US soldiers who are against the war.

It is obvious, agains in full context of the conversations that were taking place during that entire portion of the program exactely what he meant as well as the callers who were talking with him on the air.

Second, in each of the examples you have shown not once did anyone MAKE the accusation, just commented on the situation. Even Webb just said a very generic reference like, something like that and not stating the wording which would keep him free from a slander suite.

EVERY statement which accused Rush of saying , "phony soldiers, " in the contaxt in which Dems are accusing him has been made in the immunity of Congressional chambers.

As far as using Congressional time for this attack, I agree and have stated before that it has no buciness on the House or Senate floor. What Rush does IS NOT the business of the people.

Rep. Patrick Murphy - who is a phony soldier if you use Rush's definition - has a piece at Huffington Post.

Reid's letter to Clear Channel is just another example of the fact that members of Congress have openly criticized Rush.

I'm just curious, if Rush didn't say anything wrong, why did he doctor the recording? Also, why doesn't he sue Media Matters if they are not providing the actual audio?

The entire audio is provided at Media Matters - it is not just snippets.

Wait a minute here!

The "Phoney Soldier(s)" Rush was reffering to are the ones like my father-in-law.

He IS a Phoney Soldier!

That ass went in the Navy for 3 weeks, broke his leg, got discharged, and till this day takes the Veterans Administration for every thing he can get.

It's people like him who have screwed up the VA system completely and those are the people that Rush was reffering to.

Anyone who didnt even make it through Boot Camp and really never served but take advantage of the benefits the government offers, lies about his service, makes up false stories about the other soldiers actually in combat, and lies about his medals is a Phoney Soldier.

Rush Limbaugh NEVER was referring to the Soldiers that have served and are against the war.

Rush has raised money to suppor the troops, fought to get on ARFRN, and routinely spotlights heroes.

It is an attempt to deflect from Moveon.org and push the fairness doctrine, nothing more.

Funny how there wasn't any outrage when someone (brain cramp) stated that our TROOPS (notice the broad gneralzation)were terrorizing Iraqi citizens, or when Murtha said that there were murderers in Haditha. At last count all of them had been vindicated.

Rob isn't going to listen to the truth. He's going to believe what he wants to believe. No use in arguing with someone like that.

Ken, this is an excellent point and it makes me wonder why I didn't think of it. Good job! Of course they won't say what they're saying on the MSM. They do know they're liars and you're right... this is proof of it. We should e-mail Reid and dare him to say the same thing publicly, and not on the Senate floor. We know he won't do it though, cowardly liar that he is!

If Rob was anything but a Dem shill, he would know that Rush has discussed phony SOLDIERS (plural) on a number of occasions.

And since this news preceded his comments, perhaps Rob could be better informed:

http://www.usdoj.gov/usao/waw/press/2007/sep/operationstolenvalor.html

“As a Vietnam Veteran, and the father of a decorated Army officer currently serving, I feel very keenly the damage done by Jesse Macbeth and these other fakes,” said Jeff Sullivan, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Washington. “Macbeth’s lies fueled hostility to our servicemen in Iraq and here at home. Those who falsely claim medals for heroism, cheapen the recognition of our true war heroes.”

“The ‘phony war hero phenomenon’ plagues the American landscape and tarnishes the service of thousands of veterans who have served honorably. It strangles VA resources from providing critical care and benefits to deserving veterans returning from war,” said Douglas J. Carver, Special Agent in Charge of the VA Office of Inspector General, Western Field Office. “It all boils downs to this: these phonies submit claims to the VA for compensation and medical benefits they are not entitled to, and it takes away valuable resources from those who are entitled.”

In a dozen cases under investigation in the northwest, the fraud totals more than $1.4 million. Eight of the cases have been publicly filed and are in various stages of being adjudicated:

*Jesse Macbeth, 23, Tacoma, Washington, sentenced today in connection with his fraudulent claims of military service. Macbeth sought medical benefits claiming to suffer from PTSD related to service in Iraq and Afghanistan, in fact, Macbeth was discharged from the Army about a month after he joined. Macbeth never traveled outside the U.S. with the Army. Macbeth duped reporters, claiming to be a decorated Army Ranger who had witnessed war crimes.

*Reggie Buddle, 60, Puyallup, Washington, sentenced July 30, 2007, for Unlawful Wearing of United States Military Medals and Decorations. Buddle posed as a decorated Marine Corps Chaplin presiding over weddings, funerals and baptisms. Buddle was sentenced to 500 hours of community service and two years of probation.

*Larry Lewis Porter, 52, Seattle, Washington, sentenced April 19, 2007, for Mail Fraud in connection with a scheme to fraudulently obtain disability benefits from Veterans Affairs. Porter was sentenced to 37 months in prison. Porter claimed he suffered PTSD from experiences in the Navy, however investigation revealed the events were fabricated. Loss Amount: $134,000

*Roy J. Scott, 71, of Port Angeles, Washington pleaded guilty August 31, 2007, to Use of an Altered Military Discharge Certificate to obtain VA Compensation and Medical Benefits, and Unlawful Wearing of United States Military Medals and Decorations. Scott claimed he had served in the Marine Corps in Korea, that he was wounded in combat in Korea, and that he had been awarded the Korea Defense Medal, Korea Star Medal, and a Purple Heart (due to alleged gun shot wounds sustained during combat in Korea). Scott claimed to be honorably discharged, when in fact, he never earned those medals, never served in Korea or any foreign country and was Court-Martialed out of the Marine Corps. Loss Amount: $21,960.

*Merrick K. Hersey, 64, of Vancouver, Washington, Hersey was indicted August 1, 2007, for Use and Possession of Forged or Altered Military Discharge Certificate and False Statements. Hersey is a fugitive and is being sought by law enforcement. Hersey applied for benefits claiming he served in 1967-68, was awarded two Purple Hearts (for wounds sustained in active combat) and the Bronze Star (awarded for heroism). Hersey claimed he suffered from PTSD and sought benefits. In fact, Hersey never served in the Marine Corps at all. Loss Amount: $2,688.

*Michael D. Heit, 58, of Harrington, Washington, pleaded guilty yesterday (September 20, 2007) in U.S. District Court in Spokane, Washington to Use and Possession of a Forged or Altered Military Discharge Certificate and False Claims of Military Medals. Heit claimed he was a Vietnam vet who was held as a prisoner of war. He claimed to have been awarded three Purple Heart medals and the Silver Star. None of that is true. Loss Amount: $3,500

*Elvin J. Swisher, 70, of Idaho, is charged with Wearing Unauthorized Military Medals, False Statements, and Theft of Government Funds. Swisher falsely claimed he was wounded in Korea and that he had been awarded the Silver Star, Purple Heart and other medals for valor. Loss Amount: $95,000.

*Carlos Riosvalle, 83, of Portland, Oregon, was sentenced April 9, 2007, in Multnomah County for multiple counts of Theft by Deception. Riosvalle collected benefits claiming to have been “shot down while a pilot in World War II.” In fact Riosvalle never served in the armed forces. Loss Amount: $22,818.

These cases were all investigated by the Veterans Affairs Office of Inspector General VA-OIG. The VA Office of the Inspector General operates a HOTLINE for the public to confidentially and safely report crimes like “Stolen Valor” involving VA or its programs. Call 800-488-8244, or fax to 202-565-7936, or e-mail to vaoighotline@va.gov, or write to VA OIG HOTLINE, PO Box 50410, Washington, DC 20091-0410.

The cases filed in the Western District of Washington are being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Ronald J. Friedman. For additional information please contact Emily Langlie, Public Affairs Officer for the United States Attorney’s Office, at (206) 553-4110.

That's not who Rush was talking about. He was specifically referring to soldiers who do not agree with Bush's Iraq war policy. It is patently obvious.

Mike, discussing what Rush may or may not have said in the past is irrelevant.
