AL QAEDA WINS - THE SUNDAY COMMENTARY

"After a few blows, it forgot all about those titles and rushed out of Somalia in shame and disgrace, dragging the bodies of its soldiers. " Osama Bin Laden in reference to the Black Hawk Down incident.

"However, when tens of your solders were killed in minor battles and one American Pilot was dragged in the streets of Mogadishu you left the area carrying disappointment, humiliation, defeat and your dead with you." Osama Bin Laden in 1996 upon announcing his, "Fatwah, " against America which directly led to US Embassy bombings, The USS Cole and 9/11.

Osama Bin Laden's perception of The United States since we fled Somalia upon seeing our soldiers dragged through the streets of Mogadishu, Somalia was that we did not have the stomach to fight nor the resolve to complete any mission. This one incident spearheaded Al Qaeda's future attacks against The United States as they saw a sign of the weakness of the Infidel.

Now Harry Reid states that , "we have lost the war," and the reports from Commanding General David Petraeus stating that sectarian violence is down and the we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, are false and untrue reports. John Murtha claims he, " has lost confidence in the military."

The Democrat controlled Congress of The United States issues a proclamation of surrender in the form of a military appropriations bill which sets unconstitutional time lines for the removal of our troops before the job is completed. Though this bill will receive a Presidential VETO, the damage to our troops, our nation and the war has been done.

In this one move by Democrats the signal has been sent to Al Qaeda just as it was in Somalia. The United States does not have the stomach for war even when we are attacked. We do not have the resolve to complete what they have started and if you kill a few more Americans the pressure to leave will mount so even a Presidential VETO will not stop it.

So the line has been drawn in the sand by Al Qaeda and America is once again backing away. Our troops only want to finish the mission. To leave Iraq with a strong government which follows the rule of Democracy. To defeat an Islamic enemy which has crossed to our shores and killed our people. But the political games by a Democrat Congress are once again going to force a a generation of American soldiers to leave a battlefield before the job is done.

To arrive home in defeat and as some of the reactions in recent protests is proving even face the vial and disgusting wrath of liberal appeasers who hate the military and despise America. So they take out their hate on the very soldiers who sacrifice to defend our freedoms and protect this nation from any and all enemies. That is until a Democrat Congress steps in and prevents them from doing so.

It is only a matter of time until Al Qaeda or another version of Islamic fanatics who hate all that we are and all that we stand for and have as their goal to kill Americans, only a matter of time until they cross our borders and wage their Jihad on American soil once again killing thousand of Americans.

Maybe they are already here biding their time until the right moment when they unleash a dirty bomb, or a nuclear devise which will render a city to devastation. Maybe they are already hiding in our neighborhoods and their children are playing with our children while their parents plan and prepare for the next 9/11.

They watch our news and listen to our Congress and know as bin Laden did in 1996 that the Infidel has no stomach for war and that Americans can be killed. They know as they watch our media display only body counts or create discord among the citizens to push their liberal agenda that America is already a defeated nation who waits for the next attack.

They watch Democrat Congressional leaders speak their words of the defeat of America for them and laugh. They watch as Democrat leaders pass bills that bring the warriors home to allow them to force their extremism on the entire world. They watch as Democrats in Congress do their job for them leaving them free to concoct more ways to kill Americans.

Then when it happens these same Democrats will wonder where it came from, hold investigation as to who was to blame and why and how it happened. They will shake their heads and claim their, "love, " for America and call for revenge and not mean it. They will blame a President, poor security, American herself but never the real enemy Islamic extremists and Jihadists.

And all the while Al Qaeda as well as other lesser known Islamic fanatics will laugh as they realize that they have won and America will fall to Islamic law and rule. They will then thank Allah for the Democrat Congress of The United States whose actions and defeatism allowed Al Qaeda to win!

THE LIBERAL LIE PICTURE GALLERY

PBS, (Politically Biased Station), was to air a documentary that finally revealed the moderate Muslim view concerning the Jihad's and the fanatics that use Islam as a means to kill through terrorism and to push for Islamic law in The United States. In the documentary Muslim moderates stated their love for America and their desire to live under the freedoms and laws of this country and as peaceful Muslims and their disgust for those who choose otherwise or kill in the name of Allah. PBS pulled the program stating it was not a balanced look at Muslims and therefore biased against radicals. Duh, seems to me that was the purpose for the documentary to show the non-fanatical face of Muslims for a change.
Sheryl Crow may need only one sheet, (though I doubt it), but as for me, please pass the Charmin!!!!!! By the way aren't trees a renewable resource ?
A story last week from the one of the liberal northeastern states tells of a young man who placed a ham sandwich in a bag at the table of a Muslim student as a joke. The Muslim student was, "traumatised, " and the boy who placed the bag is being brought up on hate crime charges. Now the school district is instituting an, "Anti Ham Program, " to eliminate ham from the school district and the county so as not to offend Muslims. They are even hiring Anti Ham police to enforce the new law. Oh well please pass the Mayo and the bread its lunch time!
While Hapless Harry has shied away from his stupid comment his party has not shied away from their surrender policy in the revised appropriations bill. Now they have moved the unconstitutional time line up to begin in October. Even with the testimony of General Petraeus stating progress and , "seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, " Dems are still pushing for surrender. Americas top appeaser and appeasing diplomat Nancy Pelosi even refused to attend the briefing. I guess not hearing the truth gives her plausible deniability as she along with Reid push for surrender.

THE CONSTITUTION PART XI - LIMITED GOVERNMENT

George Washington - "Towards the preservation of your government, it is requisite, that you resist with care the spirit of innovation upon its principles. One method of assault may be in effect alterations which will impair the energy of the system and thus undermine what cannot be directly overthrown."

This statement made by Washington was a warning to future generations of Americans. Warning each generation that followed away from the temptation of undermining the principles of the Constitution, the very foundation of our Republic. It was also a warning that , "alterations, " on these principles would in effect change the fabric and meaning of the very laws established in the Constitution and as such the building blocks of our nation.

The vast size and scope of the Federal Government is one glaring instance in which the warning given by George Washington was ignored. While the, "size, " of the Federal Government is not specifically mentioned in the Constitution, the authority, responsibilities and duties of the Government are. In each case this authority is limited in its scope and size by that fact that the Framers established specific obligations that the people should expect from government.

While the Framers could not anticipate the tremendous growth that this nation has experienced since it founding, they did anticipate that a government that exists by the authority of the governed must be limited in its power over the citizenry lest it cease to be a government of the people but one that dictates to and controls the people.

Each Branch of the Federal Government has specific Constitutional responsibilities that are outlined for that Branch.

Article I, Section 8 - Congress, ( Legislative Branch), has power to: collect taxes, pay debts, borrow money, regulate commerce with foreign nations, establish rule of naturalization, coin money, provide punishment for counterfeiting, establish Post Offices, promote Science, constitute tribunals, punish piracy on the seas, declare war, raise and support armies and Navy and have exclusive legislative authority over the District of Columbia.

Article II, Section 2 - The President, ( Executive Branch), Commander in Chief of the military, power to make treaties, nominate and appoint Ambassadors, public Ministers, Judges and all other offices, grant reprieves and pardons, recommend to Congress Measures necessary and expedient, convene or adjourn Congress, receive Ambassadors and other public Ministers, Commission all Officers of The United States and see that laws are faithfully executed.

Article III, Section 2 - The Courts, (Judicial Branch), power to extend to all cases of law arising under the Constitution and treaties, the trial of crimes and treason.

These are the specific powers granted to the Federal Government by the Constitution. While the scope of these powers can vary, understanding their limitations in size and power, the history of this nation and its founding and Founders must be taken into consideration.

While Great Britain governed America as colonies of the British Empire, the original 13 Colonies were subject to a myriad of oppressive regulations, harsh policies, unrepresentative and oppressive taxation , excessive laws and violations of personal freedoms such as speech, property holdings, protection against unwarranted searches and seizures, just to name a few of the oppressive governance by Britain over the Colonies.

To prevent similar authoritative and oppressive power from controlling the United States as a nation in the manner that Britain controlled the Colonies, the Founding Fathers envisioned a government that would be limited in its power and authority and would be given that authority by the people of The United States thus directly answerable to the citizenry.

This very pretext of government established by the Constitution and envisioned by the Framers created a government limited in size, scope and power to prevent needless and oppressive regulation and legislation, the trampling of individual freedoms and liberties and to allow the individual States the power and freedom to handle situations particular to that State.

The Federal Government was designed in fact by the Framers only as a central authority with limited power whose main responsibility was to protect the nation by providing for its defense, institute a nationally regulated form of law and justice so that every citizen would be allowed the same rights and privileges throughout the land, establish commerce between states and foreign nations and also establish diplomatic relations, commerce, trade and treaties with foreign powers.

The size, power and authority of today's Federal Government far exceeds the vision established in the Constitution and by its Framers. Slowly and surely over the decades many of our freedoms have been regulated, legislated and controlled by an unfettered growth and power from a government that in many ways no longer answers to the authority of the people but to the power of those elected.

The Federal Government was established to guard and secure our freedoms not to legislate, tax and regulate the people into dependents and in a very real sense servants of the government.

In 1788 during the Constitutional ratifying Convention in New York, Alexander Hamilton described the Federal Government as follows:

"The great leading objects of the federal government, in which revenue is concerned, are to maintain domestic peace, and provide for the common defense. In these are comprehended the regulation of commerce that is, the whole system of foreign intercourse; the support of armies and navies, and of the civil administration."

Hamilton described a government limited in power yet created for the security and cohesiveness of the nation.

In 1821 Thomas Jefferson warned of the consequences of an unfettered and limitless government:

"When all government, domestic and foreign, in little as in great things, shall be drawn to Washington as the center of all power, it will render powerless the checks provided of one government on another."

The vision of the Founders and Framers of the Constitution for the Federal Government have been left behind in the regulatory, burdensome, exhaustive, over reaching and over taxing government that now leads this nation. Its power is limitless, and its influence and intrusion in the lives of We the People have already begun to crumble the foundational principles on which this nation was founded.

THE VICTIMIZING OF AMERICA - THE SUNDAY COMMENTARY

The terrible tragedy of the murder of 32 students and teachers at Virginia Teach University is revealing a side of our society that in itself poses a danger that can shake the very foundations of this nation and bring an end to the free America that was begun in 1776 when we declared our Independence.

Within a few hours of the horrific killings in Virginia, in an effort to fill the 24/7 news cycle and since then in a continuing effort to find every angle of this story, "experts, " have been found on nearly every channel and every newspaper who are describing the murderer as a, "victim, " rather than the maniacal certified killer of his fellow students and faculty members.

By describing a troubled past and his classification as a loner more or less shunned by fellow students this court certified danger to himself and others is slowly but surely becoming in the eyes of many a victim of society and not an insane cold blooded killer.

Additionally without trying to sound callas to the pain of those who survived and the families of those who lost friends and loved ones in this undeniably cruel and senseless killing, many of the very students who needlessly perished at the hands of this maniac because of what is slowly being revealed as a general lack of defending themselves became helpless victims to a murderous and evil individual.

Reports of only a few such as the Professor who was a Holocaust survivor and barred a door with his own body in sacrifice for others and two students who after being shot likewise used their bodies to bar a door from entrance by this insane killer, most either helplessly hid behind desks or somewhat timidly waited as this lunatic shot at random anyone who he caught in his sights.

This is not to take away from the horrible and senseless deaths of innocents who were in the wrong place at the wrong time nor to accuse them of any wrong or demean their tragic death but rather to pose a question that has risen in several circles in the aftermath of these murders. Are we becoming a nation of victims rather than free individuals who have a personal responsibility to ourselves and others ?

The victimizing of America is becoming a reality as it seems that an entire generation is seeing themselves as victims of society, depending on government to take care of them, blaming anyone and everyone for their plight in life and as it would seem even to the point that when in the face of imminent danger not able to protect themselves or even fight back in the face of death.

Even the horrific events of 9/11 are quickly becoming victimized as reference after reference and documentary after documentary are calling the nearly 3000 people killed on that day victims of a tragedy rather than innocent civilians killed by an undeniable act of war against our nation by a ruthless enemy who desires to kill the rest of us in like manner. Even to the point that some are defending the terrorists in their attack on 9/11 and calling those we fight today, "freedom fighters, " rather than the enemy of America.

This victimizing of 9/11 has in a very real sense sanitized that terrible day so much so that conspiracy theorists who believe that our government authored and planned the destruction of the Towers and the Pentagon are receiving more and more attention while the truth of the open act of war by Islamic terrorists is being down played.

Sanitized to the point that much of the nation and those that have been elected to Congress have forgotten why we fight and the necessity of winning against this ruthless and determined enemy of The United States. Islamic fanatics and those who support and supply them.

I will go further to say that the heroes of United Flight 93 would consider it an insult to be deemed as victims. People who in the face of a helpless situation and against all odds, as free men and women took the responsiblity upon themselves to fight for their lives and for those who this plane was being used as a weapon against. And as all indications have shown truly believed that they would be triumphant in their defense.

Have we as a society become so dependant on government and the seemingly necessity of blaming everything that takes place in our lives on circumstances, or lack of government intervention, or politicians, or even our very own country that the simple act of survival in the face of danger and taking on responsibility for our own preservation is becoming beyond our means ?

The rights that we as a nation are blessed with because of the wisdom of The Constitutional Framers in seeing to it the the words of the Declaration of Independence that describe the, " unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness, " are permanent foundational principles found in the Bill of Rights and as such the essence of the fabric of our free society.

But these very principles of freedom are slowly diminishing as generation after generation no longer are willing to accept the responsibilty of being free. That responsibility is the right to protect ourselves, care for our selves defend our selves and not depend on the government nor place the blame for our plight in life on anyone except our own actions or lack thereof.

Government entitlements and endless programs and legislation are taking the responsibility from the individual and placing citizen control in the hands of an all powerful government. Indoctrination by government schools who teach our children that government is the answer to all of our problems, that The United States is the blame for the worlds trouble and a revisionist history of why our country was founded and the tremendous heroism of the Founders and Patriots in breaking from the tyranny of Britain and creating a nation where all people shall be free.

Politicians that seize every opportunity to regulate, investigate, legislate and constantly take away more individual freedoms and responsibility while assigning it to the government. Using their Congressional powers to give the government responsibility for, "taking care," of citizens and forcing dependency on an all powerful government creating a citizenry who wait on Washington to decide everything from birth to retirement.

We were founded on the premise that in order to be free," We the People," have the personal responsibility to insure our individual freedom by taking the blessings of liberty given us by law in this nation and using them to better our position in society, prosper as free Americans, dissent when the government tries to take our freedoms by regulation or attacking our individualism and protect our own when threatened.

Within those rights are also found the necessity when attacked as a nation to seek out and destroy the enemy who orchestrated that attack and those who supply and harbor the same! That is why we are at war. To defend this nation against the attack toward the very freedoms and liberties that we have cherished since our beginning.

Abraham Lincoln once stated that, " If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide." Is the victimizing of America the beginning of the suicidal destruction of our nation that President Lincoln referred to ? To we as free individuals no longer believe that as free people we have a personal responsibility to insure those freedoms and by our actions cherish those freedoms in the betterment of our lives whether through prosperity or protection ?

We must as American understand and remind ourselves daily that our, "unalienable Rights, ...(of)... Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness, " are part of the fabric of our nation ONLY because we as a free, responsible people protect those rights from maniacal killers, Islamic terrorists and most of all from the tyrannical attack upon those rights by a government whose very existence is at the authority and allowance of the very free people who give this government its power and right to govern.

THE LIBERAL LIE PICTURE GALLERY

Ok, so they met and so they talked. Nancy ran to the cameras and said it was, "productive." Yeah right, there is still no funding bill without pork and attachments, the Dems are still pushing unconstitutional time lines and they won't even allow the bill to get to the VETO desk so the bill can get cleaned up. But old Nancy will quickly negotiate with Assad in Damascus and any other Jihadist, while the troops starve on political vine!
Did you hear the collective giggle of the millions of babies whose lives were saved by the Supreme Courts upholding the legislative ban on partial birth ?
What do the students at Virginia Tech want more than anything else ? To be left alone to cope, grieve and get on with their lives. It's time for the cameras, the reporters and the political pundits to leave the Campus and the survivors alone to allow them to get past the tragedy and remember their friends!
The Democrat strategy for the war. Throw in the towel, cut and run, surrender and bring another generation of soldiers home whose only request is to finish the job and win! Nancy, Harry and your ardent followers, leave them alone and let them WIN!!!!!!!

THE CONSTITUTION PART X - THE 17TH AMENDMENT

The 17th Amendment - "The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, elected by the people thereof, for six years; and each Senator shall have one vote.

I have mentioned this Amendment in two previous segments of this series in passing and now will look at it in an exhaustive view as well as the ramifications that the adoption of this Amendment has had on the nation and the original intent of the Framers.

The original wording of The Constitution concerning the Senate of The United States and those who served in this Chamber of the Congress is as follows.

Article I, Section 3 - "The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, chosen by the Legislature, thereof for six Years; and each Senator shall have one Vote."

The original purpose of creating two Houses of Congress, The House of Representatives and The Senate, was to allow for a check and balance in legislating and to provide for representation of the people AND the individual states.

The House of Representative has always been, "the people's House, " of Congress since every two years the entire House is elected directly by registered voters. The two year cycle provides for a , "shake up, " in the House if the people see a need for change. The House was designed to be a direct representative body of the people of the nation and as such directly answerable to every citizen with the representatives chosen directly FROM the people and BY the people. This also has always made the House much more prone to offer quick legislation that is based upon the emotion of the moment or the feelings of the citizens at the time.

The Senate was designed to be a slower more deliberate House of Congress whose members were not directly elected by the people but appointed by each State Legislature for a six year term with one third of the Senate eligible for election every two years in a rotational basis. Supposedly by Legislative appointment Senators would be the more, "elite, " of the nation and as such not as prone to legislate by emotion or by the tide of the times. Thus giving pause to House Legislation and study of such which provided for the balance between the two Chambers.

The 17th Amendment changed much of this original plan of the Framers as it provided for the direct election of each Senator by the people and removed the appointment authority of the State Legislatures. As such the States no longer have a representative voice in the Congress.

The appointment by State Legislatures of Senators insured accountability for the six year term. If a Senator was deemed to be negligent in his duties to the State or not accomplishing his job, he could then be removed during his term and replaced by the State. The only remaining provision of the original authority of the State concerning Senators is if a Senator cannot complete his term then the Governor , (not the Legislature),of that State will appoint a replacement who serves until the next election.

This one Amendment has removed the influence of individual States in Federal governing and has allowed for Senators to, rather than represent their individual States as was the intent of the Framers, become in their actions associate president's, foreign emissaries, elder statesman and accountable to no one.

This Amendment because of its inherent lack of accountability by Senators has also been directly responsible for a great deal of the out of control growth of the Federal Government. Senators who no longer represent their States use the Senate as a means of creation of Federal projects, entitlements, tremendous pork spending and other out of control measures that has, since its inception, seen an unfettered growth of the Federal Government, which was not what the framers intended.

Senators now rather than looking to the interest of their State dabble in issues that in most respects do not apply to the State level and just before a re-election bid throw billions in pork spending to their individual State to attempt to purchase votes by bragging to State residents of their financial accomplishments for the home folk. The remainder of the six year term the, "home folk, " are forgotten.

This could very well be one reason why historically this country does not elect a sitting Senator to the Presidency. In our history there have only been two, (Warren G. Harding and John F. Kennedy), sitting Senators elected to the White House. Others who have served in the Senate and elected President either served as Vice President, Governor, a high Cabinet position or other like executive jobs before election to the White House.

There seems to be a distrust of leadership with Senators who have only served as a Senator and the actions caused by the adoption of the 17th Amendment could explain the lack of sitting Senators as President.

The possibility of repealing the 17th Amendment and returning to the original intent of the Framers is not likely since the move to amend must begin in the Senate. The Federal power that this Amendment has given Senators and this Chamber of Congress insures that the 17th Amendment will remain as part of the Constitution and the States will continue to have no representation in Washington.

WAR ON TERROR - ARE WE LOSING ? - THE SUNDAY COMMENTARY

Are we, The United States of America, losing the War on Terror ? I believe in a very real sense and from a certain perspective the answer is yes. First let me clarify my answer. From a strict military stand point in the battlefields of the world fighting Islamic terrorism we are winning!

Our brave and heroic men and women who wear the uniform of America's Armed Forces are waging a fight, whether in Afghanistan, Iraq of other battlefields in this war, against a ruthless and merciless enemy who use any and all means conventional and especially non-conventional to terrorize the world. They kill without thought of who. They murder women and children in the same manner as soldiers. The fight in the streets as civilians. They use chemicals like chlorine to kill or mame as readily as a bullet or RPG.

Yet in spite of the ruthlessness of this enemy our finest are displaying a determination, resolve and willingness to fight this enemy of America because they believe in what they do and understand the consequences of defeat. Their determination to stand firm against this enemy is defeating the enemy in the field of battle.

In like manner the President, whether one agrees with strategy or location, is just as determined and resolved to see this fight for America through to a victorious end.

He stated on September 20, 2001, just nine days after the brutal attacks against our country on September 11, "Our war on terror begins with al Qaeda, but it does not end there. It will not end until every terrorist group of global reach has been found, stopped and defeated."

"This war will not be like the war against Iraq a decade ago, with a decisive liberation of territory and a swift conclusion. It will not look like the air war above Kosovo two years ago, where no ground troops were used and not a single American was lost in combat. Our response involves far more than instant retaliation and isolated strikes. Americans should not expect one battle, but a lengthy campaign, unlike any other we have ever seen."

" And we will pursue nations that provide aid or safe haven to terrorism........... From this day forward, any nation that continues to harbor or support terrorism will be regarded by the United States as a hostile regime. "

To this the Congress and the vast majority of the nation rose as one in applause and resolve to fight the radical Islamic enemy on any and all battlefields where they are found. Whether Al Qaeda or other terrorist groups and the nations that harbored, trained and financed such groups.

Today that resolve here at home is gone. The main strategy of terrorism is though actions that terrorize instill fear, chaos or discord as a weapon to defeat their enemies. In a very real sense Islamic fanatics who use terrorism as a weapon have achieved this goal here at home.

We are a nation in turmoil. Congress is fighting the President to fund the very men and women who fight and die daily defending this nation against our enemy. House Appropriations Committee Chairman Dave Obey has declared in a memo to all staffers of House members that Congress will no longer use the wording, "War on Terror, " or "Global War on Terror, " as it may offend. Congressional members are seeking negotiations and dialogues with this enemy on their turf.

Anti - war activists refuse to allow former terrorists to speak at colleges expressing the true nature of this radical Islamic enemy. Even in other public forums speakers who seek to tell the truth about this enemy are booed off the stage sometimes with violent actions from audience members. They are beginning to vilify the very men and women who fight this enemy and defend our freedom.

The Main Stream Media only reports body counts and bombing rather than success in the field or the stories of heroes fighting for their country. With the expressed idea of continually stirring public opinion against the war and the defeat of this enemy.

The enemy uses this to its advantage for whenever they wish to shape American opinion against the war they send a homicide bomber or kill Americans with an RPG. After the recent attack in the, "Green Zone, " Senator John McCain spoke of this enemy strategy to which most of the media ignored or gave a momentary sound bite then followed with a body count report.

Because of fear of offending Muslims and in many cases fear of possibly offending the terrorists into further attacks, political correctness is running amok as schools are using, "Christian Terrorists, " in a mock drill designed to test readiness in case of a local terrorist attack.

It is no longer acceptable to refer to terrorist as Islamic, radicals, fascists or extremists. Many on the left from television personalities to College Professors actually defend Muslim terrorists in their actions and blame the United States for the murder they commit.

Endless , "documentaries, " websites and books have surfaced claiming that the Twin Towers and the Pentagon were destroyed by our own government. These conspiracy nuts are actually gaining public forum and following daily.

In this country it is no longer acceptable to fight and believe in the ideals and principles that this nation was founded upon and in whose very existence and adherence to have made our nation strong and the envy of all who seek freedom. Those who still believe and express these ideals are labeled, "neo -cons, fascists, radicals, fanatics and warmongers."

So have Islamic Terrorists succeeded here at home in creating chaos, discord and discontent among the American people ? In a very real sense, yes! Is America and the ideals and principles in which this nation founded upon still worth fighting for ? To many I believe the answer would be no. We have lost our resolve to fight. We have lost our resolve to stand for what we believe in unless it is anti - America. The voice of the many who still believe in this nation is being silenced in many ways by those who think we are the cause of all trouble and world problems.

It would seem that the only thing between us and defeat by Islamic radicals who wish our destruction and the death of every American is the determined resolve of the President and the brave soldiers who meet them daily on the worlds battlefields.

Can we as a nation survive this fight ? Do we still understand who we are and why we even exist as a nation ? Deep down I believe that we do. We can survive and we can be victorious. Our troops will see to this, if they are allowed to finish the fight. If Congress succeeds in bringing them home prematurely whether by unconstitutional time lines or stopping funding we may find that America and our ideals become another in a long line of societies who just fade into history.

We are more than a foot note in history. We are worth fighting for and believing in. Our nation is great and is still the hope of freedom for those who seek its liberties. We must as a nation stand firm against this enemy who seeks our destruction. Islamic Fanaticism must be defeated in the battlefields, the Halls of Congress, our cities and streets, our living rooms and in the hearts, souls and minds of every American!

NANCY PELOSI WALKING THE THIN LINE OF TREASON

Article III, Section 3 of the Constitution - "Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort."

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is once again considering making diplomatic overtures with a country that the President and the State Department, (who Constitutionally set foreign policy for the nation), have stated that any dialogue is not in the best interests of The United States.

Pelosi along with Representative Tom Lantos, (D, CA), are seriously considering a trip to Iran to open a diplomatic dialogue with the rogue state that the President's foreign policy considers a terrorist state and has repeatedly stated that until Iran gives up its nuclear ambitions The United States will NOT have a dialogue with Tehran.

Pelosi's recent trip to Damascus and her one on one meeting with Assad was an embarrassment to the nation and her arrogance in telling Assad that Israel was ready to discuss peace which was quickly denied by Israeli Prime Minister Olmert proves that she has no business in the diplomatic field.

Additionally her actions were in direct violation of the Logan Act which states, "Any citizen of the United States, wherever he may be, who, without authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agent thereof, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both."

Her trip to Damascus was a direct violation of this act and as such she is guilty of a felony and adding to this her overtures toward Iran, Pelosi is walking the fine line of treason as her actions can be considered, "aid and comfort."

While her trip to Damascus was not authorized Assad considered it a State visit because of her position. Her argument as well as other liberals was that Republican members of Congress has visited Damascus which is true. But not one of them attempted to speak for The United States or suggest that their trip was to re-shape US foreign policy which is exactly what Pelosi said was the purpose of her trip.

In this same manner Pelosi is again trying to re-shape US foreign policy with her overtures to Iran while expressing her disgust with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's statements denying the existence of the Holocaust as a way to protect her political butt.

The President as well as other countries and the United Nations itself, who the left glorifies as the come all and end all in world diplomacy, have been maneuvering to isolate Iran as a means of forcing them away from their nuclear ambition and to attempt to check the terrorist state in its attempt to dominate the Middle East.

Pelosi's in announcing that she is even considering a trip to Iran in violation of US policy further emboldens Iran into believing that their current actions are acceptable and allows their nuclear black mail to work on the world stage.

It is also a proven fact that Iran is supplying manpower and supplies which are directly responsible for much of the Iraq insurgency and the killing of American soldiers. Yet Pelosi still plans to begin a dialogue with Iran in direct violation of US foreign policy and the President.

She is not President of The United states nor does she shape policy, but her liberal arrogance and her attempt to weaken the Presidency and the nation also in violation of the Constitutional provision of the Separation of Powers is aiding our enemies and assisting in sending mixed messages to Iran and Syria. She is damaging the position of Israel by misspeaking for the Prime Minister and aiding in the continued effort by Iran to create havoc in Iraq and kill American soldiers.

What better charges for treason have existed for anyone in United States history than Nancy Pelosi!

THE CONSTITUTION PART IX - FREEDOMS OF SPEECH , PRESS AND DISSENT

Amendment I - "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

The First Amendment of the Constitution and the beginning of our Bill of Rights, establishes four of our most cherished and important rights as citizens of The United States. While this series has covered the Freedom of Religion in the first segment of the series, this will cover the remainder of the First Amendment, the Freedoms of Speech, Press and our right to express our dissent and grievances with our government.

One of the keys to understanding what the Framers intended with regards to these basic and fundamentally important Freedoms found in the First Amendment is located in the very beginning of the Amendment. "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment...." with the stress falling upon the non - establishment of law.

To allow a nation and its citizenry the right of free expression through speech, press, and dissent with the government it must first be established that the government by law does not have the capability of creating any form of law that can inhibit these rights. The Framers in their collective wisdom understood from experience that a government that does not have the Constitutional restraints in place to prevent the establishment of law that could regulate or completely eliminate a citizens right of free expression was a government not by and of the people but one that becomes dictatorial over its people.

The very idea that begins the Constitution with, "We the People." establishing us as a nation and a government whose very existence is by the will of the people in itself demanded that as our first and fundamentally most important right of free expression be created by prohibiting the government from denying those rights by creating laws preventing or hampering them.

Thus the phrase which begins the First Amendment, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment..." of religion, or prohibiting speech, the press or expressing grievances with our government.

This profound establishment by the Framers concerning our rights as citizens removes any governmental restraints, regulation or law from these most precious and cherished of our rights as Americans. In the same manner it also places full responsibility of the exercise of these rights solely in the hands of , "We the People."

With these fundamental rights given us by law in the Bill of Rights we as citizens have a profound responsibility to exercise our rights of speech, press and dissent WITH responsibility. By establishing personal responsibility for the people the Framers understood the necessity in a free society for each citizen to assume personal responsibility for their actions, their tongue, their pen and their government.

This also establishes that in the exercise of these rights we as responsible citizens must not abuse these rights to hamper or trample the same rights of our fellow citizens. Responsibility at times calls for discretion, consideration, respect, restraint and understanding. Whether it is in the practice of religion, speech our writings or our dissatisfaction of our government the Framers placed the responsibility of we as free Americans upon our own conscience to control each of these freedoms in our lives.

Abusing these rights to the detriment of a fellow citizens or the press in destroying the character of an individual or threatening the security of the nation and its citizens through irresponsible reporting in not what the Framers intended in establishing these fundamental rights.

The abuse of these rights also necessitates applying the law where applicable. For instance while we have a right to express dissent with our government, we do not have the right to express that dissent by destroying property or defacing the same. Thus the law must step in to protect property from destruction of defacing.

As citizens of , "the land of the free, " we have great responsibility in the exercise or our freedoms both to our nation and our fellow Americans. We must exercise these freedoms while responsibly keeping from trampling on the freedoms of others and respecting their right to be free as well. The Framers understood this great responsibility and its necessity for the establishment of a nation, " of the people, " and a nation of free American citizens!

DEMOCRATS WITH BLOOD ON THEIR HANDS! - THE SUNDAY COMMENTARY

I was listening to a syndicated radio talk show during the early morning hours when an unsolicited call came from a listener who happened to be a platoon Sargent stationed in Germany. This American soldier called because of a grave concern that he had as a platoon Sargent responsible for the lives of the men who served under him. His Unit is preparing to leave for Iraq and his platoon was leaving WITHOUT completing two training cycles that he as a platoon leader had followed in two previous tours in Iraq.

His concern was expressed because as a platoon leader he was informed by his superiors that because of a military funding shortage the training cycles that he and his Unit were accustomed to which better prepared them for combat operations could not be scheduled and their deployment would take place without this additional training. He was very concerned for five soldiers in his platoon who were fresh from boot camp and in whom he as a platoon Sargent understood needed the additional training.

He was also angry. Not because of the deployment of his Unit. He understood the necessity of his deployment and why his unit was needed to increase troop strength in Iraq. He was angry at Democrats in Congress. He was angry because his unit was not better prepared for combat operations while Democrats, as he put it, " played politics with our funding." He then stated that as far as he was concerned if one soldier in his platoon was wounded or killed in this deployment especially one of those straight out of boot camp that Democrats would have blood on their hands for playing politics with troop support and funding.

"Blood on their hands!" Democrats are playing with the lives of the very men and women who have volunteered to fight and possibly die for this country. Why ? Simply put they are power hungry, they believe that they rather than the President, (the Constitutionally responsible officer of the government for military affairs), should have control over military strategy and deployment.

So while they play political power games with military appropriations bills soldiers are leaving to fight for our freedoms without the necessary support to protect them and prepare them for the fight. Soon these political games will begin affecting equipment and necessary supplies for soldiers already in the field of battle.

But do Democrats care ? Obviously not! After all while this much needed and necessary appropriations bill is being dangled as a political football filled with pork barrel spending, Democrats have taken a recess rather than remaining in Washington to finish the bill and send it to the President. Even though he is promising a VETO because of the pork and the unconstitutional time lines in the bill the process would be well on its way to find ground that would get the money to the soldiers in the field and those who are preparing to leave.

But do Democrats care ? No ! It has become painfully obvious that political power and usurping the Constitution is more important that supporting the troops. Their disgusting and hypocritical rhetoric claiming support for the troops then playing politics with their funding and expressing that if the President refuses to cave to their unconstitutional political games then they will DE - FUND the war shows their utter contempt for the military and the very men and women who fight to give them the right to even serve in Congress.

Their hypocrisy will not even accept blame for this contempt for the military. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid expressed before leaving for his Easter vacation that if the President Vetoed this unconstitutional bill that attempts to weaken the Presidency and take military control from the Commander in Chief giving it to Congress, that he, (the President), was responsible for leaving the troops without the necessary funding. Wrong Mr. Reid it is YOU and your fellow Democrats who bear full responsibility for leaving our troops without proper support not the President. He did not created unconstitutional time lines nor add billions of dollars of disgusting pork spending to a bill funding the troops.

Our troops are sacrificing and fighting in foreign fields fighting an enemy whose only concern about American politics is joy in seeing infighting orchestrated by Democrats whose power lust gives this enemy encouragement and emboldens them to fight knowing that America is weak in our resolve because of these Democrat games. This enemy is using this power grab by power hungry Democrats as a means to rally their followers and kill more Americans. This will not stop in the foreign fields as this enemy is also using this emboldening move by Democrats to prepare for the next attack on American soil.

Democrats have the blood of Americans on their hands while they seek power in Washington

Nancy Pelosi, Cpl. Trevor A. Roberts died while defending your freedoms now while you play games with troop support the blood of his comrades who are wounded or killed is on your hands!

Harry Reid, Sgt. Emerson N. Brand died in Baghdad defending your freedoms and you now play political games with funding that will better prepare his comrades for the fight and their blood is on your hands!

John Murtha, Pfc. Stephen K. Richardson died in Iraq fighting for your right to berate the military and while you play games with their funding the blood of his comrades is on your hands!

House Majority Whip James E Clyburn, Cpl. Dustin J. Lee died in Anbar Province in Iraq fighting for you and your playing games with funding makes you responsible for the blood of his comrades.

House Armed Services Committee Chairman Ike Skelton, Sgt. Ed Santini died in Baghdad defending your liberties and now you play with funding for his comrades and their blood is on your hands.

Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Carl Levin, Sgt. Adrian J. Lewis died from wounds received in Ramadi, Iraq fighting for you and your political games with military funding places the blood of his comrades on your hands.

Democrats In the House and Senate 3597 men and women of the United States military have died in Iraq and Afghanistan fighting an enemy who seeks the destruction of our country and the death of every American. Now in your lust for political power your leadership and each member who receives the pork and votes for unconstitutional time lines has the blood of every hero in the field on your hands while you deny their support, their funding, their training, their equipment and their right to fight for their country with every means necessary to insure their protection and their ability to win!

THE LIBERAL LIE PICTURE GALLARY

"Peace through strength, " - President Ronald Reagan. While there is much speculation as to why Iran released the 15 Brits Newsmax is reporting that after much infighting the ruling Mullahs and military leaders decided that the addition of the Nimitz to the Eisenhower and the Stennis in the Persian Gulf was a prelude to an invasion of Iran by May first and that Iran better get while the getting is good. "Peace through strength!"
Hmmm, when they ran for election to get the vote the Dems said, " No tax increases." Now that they are the majority and can force their liberal ways on We The people, the liberal agenda of spending our money is more than they can resist. $400 BILLION, (yes BILLION with a "B"), in proposed tax increases already and its only April of their first year as majority. How does the old saying go, " a leopard never changes its spots." A Democrat has never seen a tax increase they didn't like and this Congress is no exception!
Appeasement, appeasement, appeasement. The Mantra of the left and the demise of peace while allowing despots or in the case of Iran, terrorists to thrive. It didn't work with Hitler and it obviously is not working with Iran and Ahmadinejad. Give a terrorist an inch and they will take a mile, or a nuclear program, or a building or the Middle East then the world!
Target Iraq. The weapon - announced redeployment of American troops. The source of the weapon - the Democrat Majority in The United States Congress. The end result - Iraq in the hands of Iran and Al Qaeda, a terrorist state dominating the Middle East and the security of the United States in grave danger. The Democrat plan for defeat!

PRESIDENT WHO ? - BUSH, REID OR PELOSI ?

One has to wonder with the actions that are being taken in Congress and the arrogant, "diplomacy, " being displayed by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi how the following question would be answered by Democrat members of both the House and Senate.

The President of The United States is:

1. George W. Bush

2. Harry Reid

3. Nancy Pelosi

4. All of the above

Judging by legislation that is pending for Committee with the military appropriations bill and the current, "diplomatic, " trip by Nancy Pelosi the answer by Democrats to the above question would be, " 4. all of the above."

While they publicly state in their constant accusations against the President that Bush is in the White House and performs the responsibilities of President, they legislate and act as if Congress and the Congressional leaders are Commander in Chief and Secretary of State.

Nancy Pelosi in her show trip to Damascus to meet with Assad is in every sense of the word usurping the President and the State Department making a State visit to this rogue regime and it terrorist President.

While several other members of Congress and even lesser State Department officials have made trips to Damascus because of her position as Speaker this visit is considered by Damascus as an official State visit and as such her talks are expressing United States foreign policy in the eyes of Assad. Which is just the opposite of official US policy toward this regime as establish by the duly elected foreign policy maker President George W. Bush and the department within the Executive Branch of Government that expresses foreign policy to the world The State Department and its top diplomat Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice.

This arrogant move by Pelosi against requests by the White House sends a conflicting message to Assad since, because of Syria's ties to terrorism through Hezbollah and their support of terrorist activities in Iraq which has RESULTED IN THE DEATHS OF OUR SOLDIERS, the President has stopped official diplomatic dialogue with Assad as a result. Now Pelosi throws all of this out the window by making an unauthorized visit to Assad to create her own foreign policy, violating the Constitutional provision of Separation of Powers.

Many Speakers have made State visits to countries in the past and Pelosi has that privilege as Speaker. The difference with this visit is that past Speakers cleared their visits with the White House and the State Department to follow official protocol and not send any message that conflicts with official US policy. It is obvious that Pelosi not only does not care about sending mixed signals but sees it as her responsibility to reshape US foreign policy in accordance to her own agenda and usurp the Constitutional authority of the President.

A second violation of the Separation of Powers as stated in the Constitution is the arrogant move by Congress to micromanage the war through the setting of time lines in the much talked about military appropriations bill that is waiting Committee meetings to come to a joint compromise between House and Senate versions then sent to the President who has promised a VETO.

The responsibility for deployment and military strategy is Constitutionally that of the Commander in Chief who is the President. This unconstitutional bill violates that authority by seeking Congressional control of both deployment and strategy. While Congress does have the authority to provide funding or to pull funding for any military action they DO NOT have any Constitutional authority to dictate to the President through appropriations legislation how the military is to be used or deployed in service to this country.

The arrogance and power grab by the Speaker, Senate Majority leader and Democrats in the Congress is a dangerous precedence to take in placing a Constitutional crises before this country. Constitutional authority is well defined for both branches and Congress and its Democrat Leaders are crossing Constitutional barriers created to prevent any one Branch of the government from becoming a dictatorial entity within the government of the United States. They are eliminating the very check and balance system that has made this country the envy of the world and protected our freedoms from being trampled on throughout our history.

While this move by Pelosi, Reid and Congressional Democrats is short of a coupe it is a definite power grab being executed by a power lust that violates the Constitution and shakes the very foundation of our Republic.

THE CONSTITUTION PART VIII - THE SECOND AMENDMENT

Amendment II - "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

One of the most controversial amendments in the Constitution and one that the Framers deemed important enough to establish in the Bill of Rights immediately following our freedoms of religion, speech, the press and petitioning grievances against the Government as found in the first Amendment, is our right as citizens to keep and bear Arms.

One extreme misconception about this right finds its basis in the wording of the Amendment itself. The right for citizens to, "keep and bear Arms, " directly follows the right of all States to have a , " well regulated Militia." Many who are gun control advocates use this wording to express that the Framers intended the right to bear arms for the use of state Militias only and not for individuals in the protection of their families, homes or for recreational or food provision use in hunting etc.

Before I continue though I would like to clarify my thoughts on the second Amendment with this. I am not a gun owner, because I choose not to be. I am not a hunter and just have never had an interest in guns so what I write is not based on an opposition to gun control because of being a gun owner. It is based upon the reasons the Framers established the right to bear Arms for the citizens of this country and though our society has changed the fundamental reasoning for this right are just as viable today as when written into the Bill of Rights.

When the Constitution was established and the Bill of Rights added this nation was young and still remembered the oppression that was posed by the British which brought about the Revolution. The first of the second Amendment which establishes a well regulated state Militia was to allow each individual state protection from any possibility of forced control by the central government to prevent any state from suffering the oppression that the British forced on the original Colonies. Also state Militias allowed for any state to protect its borders from expansion from another state or invasion from within or without. The Militias were also available to combine for a united force in protection of the nation as a whole.

While a Militia is still a right for each state the idea has become somewhat obsolete from its original intent and establishment in the fact that each state now had a state National Guard, (which has replaced the state Militia), consisting of citizen soldiers from within that state who provide both security and also aid in time of disaster for that state. Each National Guard Unit is also used as reserve in time of war for The United States military at the discretion of the Commander in Chief.

The latter portion of the second Amendment the right, "to keep and bear arms, " is often confused as referring only to Militias and not to individuals, which is not the case. Again when the Bill of Rights was established we were only slightly removed from the control of Great Britain and the taking of fundamental rights that took place in the original Colonies.

The British upon attempting to quell the growing anger and opposition to the Crown took private property, both business and homestead for billeting and confiscation as punishment. Additionally if a Colonist dared openly oppose the British they were subject to imprisonment or worse. Arms were confiscated to prevent armed rebellion and the organizing of Militia.

This and other actions by the British also brought about the establishment of the third and fourth Amendments protecting citizens from unlawful quartering by soldiers and unreasonable search and seizure.

The Framers understood that we as citizens of a free nation have the fundamental right to defend our family, our property and our livelihood from any form of illegal taking whether from invasion or a thief who intends harm. Thus the right to bear Arms was established to allow citizens individual protection.

While law enforcement is one line of defense against our homes, families and properties the Framers also understood that law enforcement could not be everywhere at once, so the right for self protection by bearing Arms is established in the Bill of Rights as our first line of personal defense.

This also requires responsibility in bearing Arms. It does not mean that every citizen will own an UZI for example which is one argument that gun control advocates use to force restrictive legislation on Arms. Whether strict gun control laws are in effect or not those of the criminal element will find guns from a myriad of illegal sources and that becomes the responsibility of law enforcement and allowing them the capability to arrest and confiscate criminal use of arms.

The misconception of the second Amendment and the right to bear Arms also has created legislation in some states that gives permission to citizens for what is already a Constitutional right. For instance the state of Texas has passed legislation allowing its citizens to use deadly force in protecting themselves at home, in their cars or workplaces as long as that citizen is not provoking the confrontation. The use of deadly force is already a right when one protects themselves as established in the right to bear Arms.

The second Amendment does not establish the right for citizens to use armed force as a means of control or oppression by force of their neighbor or anyone else. This illusion has been created by many gun control advocates to scare people and out law Arms. The second Amendment right to, " keep and bear arms, " is for the responsible use of citizens in protecting themselves if necessary and the use of arms for provision of food or in today's society the recreational sport of hunting.
