JOHN EDWARDS RUNNING AGAIN ?

Just a quick blurb about Edwards announcing his run for 2008. The first thought that crossed my mind after, "why, ?" was : "why does a guy born in South Carolina, served as Senator from North Carolina go to New Orleans, Louisiana to announce another Presidential bid ?" Then I remembered what he did for a living. Ambulance chaser lawyers are great at grand standing and what better way to grand stand than to grab a few kids and a shovel in New Orleans to announce a run for the Presidency. I had always thought that the reason for setting up an exploratory committee for a Presidential run was to determine the feasibility of running and if the candidate stood a chance. I guess Edwards has an entire staff of, " yes, " men and women who think he has a chance. He didn't come close in 04 and will suffer the same fate for 08 in the primaries. In 04 he actually only won the SC primary with 46% over Kerry's 30%, this from his home state and running against a man who was unpopular in this state. Then to top it off during his announcement speech yesterday he actually spoke of the necessity of a tax increase as part of his platform. Yeah that will gain vast support from voters! Oh well he does provide a little break from the Obama/Hillary media blitz at least until he falls in the early primaries.

I think Edwards is great but I just don't know what has changed since 2004 except that he is two years older. The more I think about the Dems in 2008, the more I think the nomination is Al Gore's to lose: he was robbed in 2000, has been consistently right on Iraq (unlike Hillary), and will not have a problem with either cash or name recognition... I wrote a story on this at www.minor-ripper.blogspot.com

Edwards would be an ambulance chaser President. Nice looking guy, but not much substance. And I find his "Two America's" theme to be unforgiveable class warfare.

I wonder if the Dems will adopt the GOP habit of giving the nomination to the guy who worked hardest and didn't get it the time before? Edwards is such a lightweight he'd be easy to beat.

P.S. I'll never forgive him for invading the privacy of Mary Cheney either. He's a gaybasher!

Edwards is a cause for poverty; not a solution. Throwing more of other people's money away is not the answer to solving problems of poverty.

And ripper? OT: How was Gore "robbed in 2000"? Was right on Iraq? Can you be specific, please. Thank God the bloviating blowhard was prevented from being our President by George W. Bush. Bush 43 will always be a hero in my book, on that alone.

I go with Wordsmith on this 10,000%!

Gore's loss in 2000 was not a theft issue, the entire kerfuffle from the left over that was a bitter response to the fact that the #2 to the left's hero didn't win.

Ripper, you must be ripped!

How cheap it is to think that caring about Louisiana after Katrina is cheap. Not to mention cynical.

You guys are smearing one of the most decent men who ever walked the face of our Nation.

Mudkitty,

How cheap is a photo-op in a town ravaged by a Hurricane slinging mud and acting as if he cares about poor people whom the government of Louisiana have neglected since the whole thing started, when Edward's is worth 4 million or more.

Funny, Mississipi, and Florida never had these problems, but then again they were run by Republican Governors!

In Louisiana, you have a corrupt Government all the way down the line, a Mayor and Governor who let the buses sit there when they should have been out evacuating people, especially with 5 day's warning. And of course William ($90,000) in the freezer Jefferson, talk about frozen assets!

Anyone who takes a photo op on the tragedy of others, deserves to be smeared.

Most decent men who walked the face of the earth? P'Shaw!!

Ken,

I hope you dont mind me posting this here, but I think Mudkitty would find this interesting reading:

John Edwards Building Anything-But-Humble Home

John Edwards tried to cozy up to America's poor by announcing his presidential candidacy Thursday in the Lower Ninth Ward of Hurricane Katrina-ravaged New Orleans.

It's doubtful that any on hand live in splendor comparable to the $3.1 million mansion the former senator and vice presidential candidate is building in North Carolina.

Edwards, worth upwards of $30 million thanks to a career as a personal injury lawyer, is building the home on a 100-acre estate outside Chapel Hill, the New York Post reported.

The 10,700-square-foot mansion boasts 10 rooms, 6 1/2 baths, two garages, and verandas with sweeping views of the surrounding countryside.

Edwards is also building two smaller homes on the estate — a two-story, 6,366-square-foot mini-mansion with a $570,000 price tag, and a 2,817-square-foot, $193,000 house.

One home is for Edwards' 22-year-old daughter Cate and the other is for visiting friends and family, according to the Post.

On top of all that, the White House hopeful is constructing a 1,180-square-foot pool house.

In the 2004 campaign, Edwards often spoke of "Two Americas," one wealthy and privileged and the other struggling to survive.

There's no doubt which America Edwards belongs to.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
WOW I was way off, that crackpot Edward's is worth 30 million. Must be nice to be able to stand in the midst of the rubble of a Louisiana suburb, being a VERY rich man, and try to associate yourself with the poor!
What a bafoon
So all of a sudden you guys are against capitalism and against people being rich.
And not only that, you're against the rich helping the poor.
Yeah, you guys are making all the sense in the world...
You wanna talk photo ops? Let's talk Mission Accomplished. When I see you guys as outraged at that as a man who wants to highlight the need for help after Katrina, then maybe the rest of the country can then take you seriously, but not before then.
And that's just for starters.
No...we're against Democrat fatcats, 'kitty, who want to take YOUR money, and give it to the poor; meanwhile, when they talk about "tax cuts for the rich", they do everything they can to make sure when the IRS comes around, they themselves look for every tax shelter & loophole so as to give Uncle Sam as little of their own income as possible.
And not only that, you're against the rich helping the poor.
Not at all. You totally misunderstand. Liberals want to help the poor. So do conservatives. The difference is, liberal ideology only perpetuates poverty; conservative ideology offers a more longterm, practical solution. It goes back to the wisdom of Maimonides and Lao Tzu.
I believe in charity; but the answer to much of the world's poverty isn't to throw more money at it.
I applaud Oprah's efforts. Do you see anything wrong with her favoring investing her money in the South African kids over blacks here in America?
Yeah, you guys are making all the sense in the world...
Maybe there's hope for you; maybe there's hope.
You wanna talk photo ops? Let's talk Mission Accomplished.
Yes. let's do. Lay it on us, darlin'. (Didn't we cover some of this over at CJ's? And didn't I clean house on it?)
When I see you guys as outraged at that as a man who wants to highlight the need for help after Katrina, then maybe the rest of the country can then take you seriously, but not before then.
How much federal money has been pledged toward Katrina, 'kitty?
And that's just for starters.
Do keep going....
You are one confused fake libertarian, man from nantucket.
I suggest you familiarize yourself with the word "reality."
lol.
Definition of "reality": mudkitty avoids the challenge to her comments; she isn't serious about debating and defending her statements. Instead of coming back with a slamdunk, she goes in for the cheapshot.
