WMD DENIAL CONTINUES EVEN AFTER TAPED EVIDENCE

The flack over Iraqi WMD has been a long running argument with the Bush administration and many former Iraqi officials claiming that the Iraqi stockpile were shipped to Syria and Lebanon. With the recent release of the , "Saddam, " tapes which revealed a uranium enrichment program active a late as 2000 and other information pertaining to Iraq WMD the debate takes on a different tone in many circles with one very prominent avenue that has played out this debate while it looked bad for the Bush Administration:the mainstream media. The liberal press is ignoring this revelation and even intelligence entities are playing it down. The press is obviously avoiding it because it proves the left wrong and the President right. The intelligence entities are playing it down because they look foolish with the extent of the revelation. Former Deputy Undersecretary of Defense John A. Shaw verifies reports from a former General of the Iraqi Army who was a close adviser to Hussein that the WMD was shipped days before the coalition invasion to Syria and Lebanon. Shaw states that the GRU, (the current replacement to the former Soviet KGB), assisted Saddam in removing all trace of WMD in Iraq mainly to cover evidence that Russia was a continual supplier of WMD and nuclear components even after the United Nations shut down these type of shipments to Iraq. The mainstream press is also avoiding this revelation because it proves that the rhetoric that the left has been spewing about the President lying to the American people in order to get us into a war has been politically based and it completely destroys a vital part of their agenda and their 2006 and 2008 campaign strategy. The revelation and the further declassification of more of the documents that have been found in Iraq and the release of additional , "Saddam, " tapes will continue to prove that President Bush was right and justified for the protection of this nation and the prevention of Iraq WMD falling into the hands of terrorist organizations to go to expand the War on Terror into Iraq. The left will fight to keep this under wraps and will spin this in every direction possible to keep the truth from coming out and to attempt to destroy the credibility of the information, the tapes and the evidence. The fact is that truth is truth and these tapes directly from the mouth of Saddam Hussein and his inner circle as well as the other papers that are even now being declassify cannot be denied and with held from the public for very long. With each revelation the lies of the left and the true agenda of destruction that they have used since the invasion will become more evident through time. Fact: Iraq HAD WMD. Fact: they were in Iraq until just before the invasion. Fact: the Iraq battlefield in the Global War on Terror and the over throw of the Saddam regime was necessary and justified for the security of the United States and the world! The evidence proves it!

I think every intelligent human being with access to even semi reliable information knew that Iraq had WMD's. I think that is why so many of us were floored when our president disbanded the teams looking for the weapons. I understand the decision once it became clear that they were no longer there.

Well our President seems content to give the liberals more and more rope to hang themselves with.

Nice blog I will link up to you. (just starting this blog so I'll probably be the only one using the link for awhile)

John Shaw was fired by Rumsfeld after he was accused of trying to steer Iraq contracts to his buddies (http://www.truthout.org/docs_04/printer_121204D.shtml).

You are just rehashing an unproven speculative theory as if it is fact. I am willing to change my mind about WMDs if there were ANY credible evidence. You hold up Shaw as some kind of genius who was in the know, but look at what the Pentagon thinks of Shaw. Why don't you think the Pentagon released any "evidence" Shaw dug up? It certainly would have helped Bush.

Oh yeah, Bush, Rumsfeld, and rogue members of the Pentagon are part of a secret unholy alliance with Putin and the Syrians to hide the "fact" that covert Russian commandos moved WMDs out of Iraq so the Russians wouldn't look bad. Mind you, there is no credible evidence of this "fact," but a guy who has been accused by the Pentagon of attempted war profiteering says it is so. Sounds plausible!

Shaw spoke at an "Intelligence Summit" when he made the remarks you are referring to. Here is some more info on the "Inteligence Summit" http://rightwingnuthouse.com/archives/2006/02/16/saddam-tapes-why-its-always-good-to-look-before-you-leap/

But if you want to believe unsubstantiated rumors passed on by guys with tin foil hats on their head be my guest.

Is what it comes down to is the fact that NOTHING, even video of Saddam taking a crew to a buried group WMDs -- you would say that it is fake, just like how we didn't really land on the moon.

Before you bash the Intelligence Summit you should have heard what was going on there. Many want to make it into a little speech of nuts. It was a 3 day period of discussion, about the various aspects of intelligence, SpecOPSs, and terrorism. (Multiple Governments attended, multiple agencies, as well as professors, and private industry.)

Look, if all of you want to pretend nothing is real and it is all made up. Fine. As I stated on my blog "Saddam is playing the left like a fiddle."

Go ahead and live your life: Ignorance is bliss, correct? Everyone on the left must be blissful, especially these days. It doesn't really matter whether you agree or not if there were or were not WMDs in Iraq.

Saddam is gone and the Right did the work to do it so the Left can sit around and think what it wants. Basically, from my perspective... bashing the Intelligence Summit and those who believe there were WMDs, fit in the "there was no Holocaust" group.

If it is better for you politically to believe that, ok. Do what you want from now on, because no matter what I know we got a terrorist dictator out of power and away from WMDs.

PS-The Intelligence Summit had a number of speakers that did not like President Bush’s policies.
This summit had nothing to do with politics as you would like to believe. The summit was planned long ago and very little of the 3 days was dedicated to "the tapes." If you want to pretend it was a GOP convention, I can't stop you. I do know that many people were able to share opinions and goals for security in the future. You really want to associate yourself with a group that thinks that is bad?

Evidence please.

If you want to accept the word of John Shaw then you have to accept the fact that he believes Doug Feith, another Undersecretary of Defense and a top aide to Rumsfeld, is an illegal war profiteer. You also have to believe that the U.S. is so scared to piss off the Russians that the Pentagon and presumably the President are complicit in a major conspiracy to hide the truth from the American people. Specifically that they know about Russian commandos covertly removing WMDs.

You cannot pick and choose what Shaw says - if you believe him about the WMDs then you have to believe him about Feith and our fear of pissing off the Russians.

I said if there is evidence I am open to changing my mind. THERE IS NO CREDIBLE EVIDENCE. You apparently are willing to grasp at unsubstantiated rumors by a guy the Rummy's Pentagon believes is a nut and call that evidence.

So let me get this right.

In order to prove to you and others, the intelligence community and administration should declassify and release all information risking HUGE diplomatic problems and possible armed conflict?

I don't think this Nation has any comprehension of the idea of “classified” anymore. Just because the public wants to know does not mean the Government, who protects you, is supposed to put all Americans safety in danger.

Do people not realize that Governments do not communicate through the media? They do it via package and phone, meetings. Not all are public. I know all the FOIA freaks hate that, and people say it has helped the country. The only thing the FOIA has done has proved to be a disservice. It makes everyone think they have a right to know anything and everything.

One groups desire for knowledge CANNOT come in the way of the diplomatic, military, and economic means for the ENTIRE country.

Am I really being unreasonable?

I happen to believe the truth is in the nation's best interest, especially when you it to war. Your diatribe is largely unresponsive to my comments about Shaw. Again, if you believe him then you have to believe there is fear of the Russians and a conspiracy to cover it up at the highest level (Bush). In addition, one of the top Pentagon officials is directly involved in illegal war profiteering. Believe what you want.

1) I didn't respond directly about Shaw because he is not what I am basing my case upon. My case is upon the words of Saddam, and other resources.

2) As for Russia, you obviously didn't bother to read my blog at all about "Cold War II." I have many concerns about Russia and the LEAST of it involves Iraq. (And before you start saying I am nuts, I wrote that piece in worst case scenario.. as well as some humor.)

3) Name the "top Pentagon official ... involved in illegal war profiteering." I guess the entire right are lining out pockets?

If you want to bring up and criticize an event (Intelligence Summit), then you should know what it is really about. And it always helps if you attend.

If you want to go with the whole idea of "look at what this group thinks of so and so", therefore they are not credible. What is the entire left? President Clinton while sitting? They all said Saddam had WMDs, and don't give me the "they were duped" because the intel community around the world agreed. In addition while President Clinton was sitting he had all the necessary intelligence sources to make his declaration:

"The community of nations may see more and more of the very kind of threat Iraq poses now: a rogue state with weapons of mass destruction, ready to use them or provide them to terrorists. If we fail to respond today, Saddam and all those who would follow in his footsteps will be emboldened tomorrow." -- Bill Clinton in 1998

And no, President Clinton was not able to destroy them with the limited fixed-wing bombing missions and SLCMs. The mission was not accomplished, and by showing initial tactics the regime was only given a further map as to how to hide, and the fact that they knew they needed deep-ground bunkers. It was a failure at so many levels, a success on so few.

You are right I don't read your blog. I've looked at it but don't find it compelling. Good luck with it - I say that in all honesty.

You are just rehashing Republican talking points. Bush is the Commander-in-Chief (as he loves to remind us all the time) who took us into the unnecessary Iraq war. Frankly it does not matter what Clinton thought or what Democrats said. Bush is responsible - the buck stops with him and he is accountable.

I'm not going to respond to your whole post except to say that Shaw accused Doug Feith of war profiteering. I put it in my earlier post.
