TALIBAN'S, "AMBASSADOR AT LARGE, " ATTENDS YALE

This story is a little off the main subjects that are in the news today, Iraq violence the Dubai ports deal but it so amazed me that I had to comment on it. A member of the Taliban who held the post of Ambassador at Large is now a student at Yale University. Rahmatullah Hashemi is not only attending Yale but was admitted with extremely poor qualifications. This former Taliban member has only a fourth grade education and high school equivalency certificate or GED. His admittance not only does not meet with Yale admittance standards but keeps a qualified student who has been working throughout his/her school years to make the grade which would allow admittance to the Ivy League school. When asked about this terrorist admission Richard Shaw, Yale's dean of undergraduate admissions actually stated that the University had been trying to get another foreigner , "of Rahmatullah's caliber, " but lost him to Harvard and did not," want that to happen again." Hashemi spoke at Yale and other locations in May, 2001 as a roving ambassador for the Taliban defending their mis - treatment of women and other non humanitarian acts that were common place with the Taliban. Infact he is currently taking ,"Political Science 145 - Terrorism: Past, Present and Future, " in the same hall in which he spoke during his May, 2001 visit. The liberalistic tendencies of the higher educations community especially among those that claim to be educators who actually promote their own socialist and communist agenda as education is already far out of control. Then to discover that one of the nations most prominent universities is choosing former terrorist based individuals over students in the United States and are proud of the fact that they beat Harvard in order to get this Taliban member as a student is absolute lunacy.

I agree. Yale should stick to admitting spoiled rich kids like George W. Bush.

Like Bill and Hillary Clinton?

John Kerry?

Oh and, Howard Dean?

Nice try on the attempt to make it seem like President Bush was the only person to attend. There were plenty of people on both sides that attended Yale. I don't know if you are aware but there are spoiled rich people that are democrats as well.

I love how money has now turned into a form of leprosy; we should all be ushered away from society with our evil wallets and educations.

No, I wasn't aware that there were ANY Democrats that EVER attended Yale. I thought Bush was the only rich kid to ever go to Yale. (I am being sarcastic.)

Tell me, why do you think people should be ushered away from society for being rich and educated?

The point here Rob, is not money but a former terrorist was admitted WITHOUT qualifications bypassing those who were eligible and then the university showing pride in the fact that they beat out Harvard for this, "JEWEL."
What does the President have to do with the lunatics at Yale admitting this Taliban idiot!

The point is that Bush was not qualified to attend based on his high school record (see http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/01/20/timep.affirm.action.tm/).

The reason he was there was because of his rich and powerful daddy.

I was in Hamburg, then florida and Prague. I got a drivers license in florida. I have told you other intel I have provided.

Consider this a simple public information repository.

I was in villa blanca weeks before the U.K. intelligence raided the white house.

I dumped my next information about London as a target as well as underground transportation weeks before the attacks multiple times and ways.

Sometimes even the best intel gets fouled up.

-- SO WHAT? It is a private institution. Who do you think they get more from out of the Alumni: scholarship students or "rich people?" (Like that is a bad thing.) They need money to function. Basically it is these people that pay full tuition and give afterwards that make it possible for people with financial aid able to attend.

If you need a reference to schools that base their decision solely on grades, and are even free! I refer you to:

(You will need to speak to your local representative as well to obtain a letter of recommendation.)

Oh no, so I guess it is bad because if your father was a General, then you are getting an unfair advantage. I guess life just isn't fair. Wait, didn't someone come up with that saying before me... a long time ago?

Thank you MDConservative! You made my larger point that Yale can and does admit whomever they want.

I never advocated for a change in Yale's admission policies. I just pointed out the fact that Bush did not get in on merit - he got in because of daddy. That is not a complaint - that is a fact. Ken was the one who thinks private schools should not be allowed to admit whomever they want to. You should direct your comments to him.

Something makes me think that Ken does not take issue in the fact that a private institution did as it wished, he takes issue with the fact that it was a terrorist.

I don't want to put words in his mouth but, that is my guess.

I think the FBI should make a very visible presence on, and if kicked off, around the entire border of the campus. I am guessing I will not get my wish, which will make you happy. But so help me god if I hear one peep out of the community if the chem. lab blows up and it was courtesy of him. Don’t blame Bush and the intelligence community. You can blame the fine people at Yale.

I do wonder how the people in the local community feel having this man walking amongst them. And I can just see it now. The ACLU will being filing suit against the NSA and the Administration because they listen to him talking to his “buddies” back home.

MDCons - your logic is astounding. You want to turn over port operations in major cities to a country that has high level links to 9/11, bin Laden, al Qaeda and A.Q. Khan. At the very least you have to admit they have a mixed record on terror (even after 9/11). But then you would rather Yale deny admission to a former Taliban member who has no record of committing a terrorist act himself.

Your hypocrisy knows no bounds. At least I can respect Ken for having a more consistent viewpoint.

So, if the ports deal goes through and one of the terminals is blown up, or WMDs are brought into the country through one of the ports will we be allowed to blame Bush? Or do you have an excuse already lined up for that possibility?

“So, if the ports deal goes through and one of the terminals is blown up, or WMDs are brought into the country through one of the ports will we be allowed to blame Bush? Or do you have an excuse already lined up for that possibility?”

-- From the start I have felt confident about the port deal. There is no more chance of WMDs getting through post-deal as there are now. Obviously the majority of people will never believe that. You can blame Bush for whatever you feel, you already do. Just like I blame President Clinton for doing the same with China, however I disagree with that for other reasons than security; BECAUSE the other country does not handle security. Stop the UAE port deal and it is only fair to get rid of every other foreign port operation. Without doing so, would harm this ally you want to make appear to be like the Government of UAE ordered 9/11.

How am I not consistent?
No, on port deal.
No, on terrorists being allowed to attend a university.

Even if the UAE is what you make of it..

The port deal is like the murderer that makes your license plate. (And no I am not saying the “UAE” is a murderer. I am using your logic.)

Yale terrorist deal is like having that same murderer sleeping under your roof.

BTW, how are you going to find the terrorists these days that previously committed an act, they blow themselves up! So you want to wait until he is a “legit terrorist.” Follow the logic.. Because it is yours.

I must correct my statement earlier.

"How am I not consistent?
No, on port deal.
No, on terrorists being allowed to attend a university."

Of course in the very post where I was saying I was consistent, I flawed and was inconsistent. That was meant to be "yes" for the port deal.

I see your correction but do not understand your analogies and still don't see any consistency. You say that I want to wait until the Taliban guy is a "legit terrorist." That is not my argument but we'll go with it.

The problem with your argument is that I could say the same to you about the UAE. You want to disregard the clear evidence of significant links bin Laden which enabled 9/11, as well as post-9/11 links to terrorists, give them operational control of the ports, and then wait and see if they are "legit terrorists."

In one case you say it is OK (the one that poses a greater threat to the U.S.) and then in another case you say it is not OK. There is no consistency in your argument.
